Quinny Buzz Xtra Review – The All Terrain System

The Quinny Buzz Xtra is all about all terrain. This is what it is designed for. It has tough wheels like that on a mountain bike to ease the bumps for your baby and make the ride smoother for you. I have looked at it in the three most popular and practical colours, Blue base, Novel Nile and Rocking Black. Loving the names, aren’t you?!

I took this official brand video from you tube to give you a good insight:

blue base buzzPushchair Element – Seat

If you want to use this seat from birth you need to make sure you have a Quinny from Birth Inlay. Otherwise the main seat is best from 6 months onwards up to about 3 1/2 years or 50Lbs (whichever comes first!). It has a strong supportive harness, which is padded with a 5 point lock. It can be reclined to two positions and can be either parent facing or outward facing when you child wants to look around a little more. There is a ‘sing open’ bar that sits across the lap which enables you to place some toys or for the child to just simply hold on to, for that bit of extra security!

As with other Quinny prams, they fit perfectly with the Maxi-Cosi Pebble or Cabriofix which can be use as the main pushchair seat to allow you to easily transfer your child from the car. You can use your seatbelt to secure this car seat into the car, but depending on where you buy it your package would probably include the isofix base which is supposed to be a little safer. See the information below on prices.

quinny buzz carrycotCarrycot

The genius foldable carrycot really is a useful addition to get them through to 6 months and will hopefully mean that after a walk they can continue to sleep comfortably when you get home. I can’t guarentee that though!

Smoothness of the Ride

As mentioned in the introduction the air filled tyres allow for a much smoother ride for the baby and make it easier to push for you. I wouldn’t choose anything else for wheels if I’m honest. And the addition of lockable wheels give you more control depending on the road / terrain surface (we don’t want to be too ambitious with overuse of the word terrain!). The brake system is very clear too, and its a stand on system which most prams use, so very simple.

Foldability

Quinny have cleverly designed a system where all the buttons that actually ‘do’ something are made in grey, so you can find them easily and don’t spend hours pulling at the wrong things. This pram folding mechanism is very simple and requires just a simple push of these grey buttons near the chassis and it folds to the floor. And it unfolds automatically when you undo the autolock. Genius.

Accessories

Foot Muff: Otherwise known as Cosy-toes which will keep you little one lovely and warm in winter and will stop the dreaded blankets being kicked off.

Parasol: To really make sure the sun doesn’t get them!

Cup holder: It sounds a bit random, but where else are you going to put your starbucks?

Other smaller features

Handlebars: They adjust 4 inches for the smaller or taller parents, making sure your backs stay in tact.

Brakes: The brakes are simple to use and involve a one step on and off system which is great in tthose summer flimsy shoes.

Basket:  As standard with Quinny systems, the basket holds 5kg, which sounds alot, but believe me, you will need it, there is always something to put in there.

Sun shield: This Quinny has a special extendable sun shield, which brilliantly can adapt for a taller or a smaller child by running up and down the frame. Also it comes with extensions to the canopy that bring it really far over your baby to keep them really safe and protected.

  1. Thank you for your review of Quinny Buzz Xtra. I found it really helpful. This looks like a very versatile and durable piece of equipment every new parent should own. This could be a great gift for a baby shower too for the expectant mother maybe from a group of friends, as its quite pricey. It is a combo stroller. car seat and carrycot all in one. There would be less space taken up when one piece of equipment satisfies multiple needs. Excellent review.
